Armed assailants attacked judiciary headquarters in Iran

(MENAFN) At least five individuals lost their lives and 13 others sustained injuries on Saturday morning when armed assailants attacked the judiciary headquarters in Zahedan, a city in southeastern Iran, according to official sources and local media.

The extremist group Jaish al-Adl claimed responsibility for the assault, which began with gunfire targeting the courthouse before expanding to indiscriminately shoot at nearby civilians, as reported by a news agency.

An informed source told the agency that civilians and their property were also affected during the attack. Security forces reportedly killed three of the attackers during the confrontation.

Emergency and security personnel quickly responded, surrounding the courthouse and securing the area. Iranian officials have initiated a comprehensive investigation, while the identities of the victims have not yet been disclosed.
